None of my pieces use lead or lead based glaze. None of the kilns I fire in have previously been used for lead.

This is a tricky topic. I have comments more than answers. First, nothing will happen to you if you put my ceramics in the dishwasher. However, things may happen to the ceramics. In general, a dishwasher is not as gentle as a handwash. You may shorten the lifespan of the ceramics, but in all likelihood they will still last for many years if not decades.
*One small caveat for luster fired work. Please treat luster fired work as gently as possible and handwash. How do you know you have luster fired work? It will have gold, silver, and/or mother of pearl accents. It’s very obvious and I would have told you before you purchased anything.

I routinely use my ceramics in the oven and in the microwave. Nothing has so far happened to me or my ceramics, but I can’t fully guarantee that stress points in the piece won’t give way under sudden changes in heat. If you microwave a mug for a reasonable amount of time and it cracks, please contact me and we’ll work something out - luckily this is still a small enough operation that it shouldn’t be an issue.
Some of my work is specifically designated as flameware. If you don’t specifically know that this is the case, do not put things on the stove. See flameware section for specific care.

Some specific work is designated as flameware, which means it’s specifically designed for stove and oven use. However, these are still functional works of art. Please treat them gently. Flameware in particular is expensive and requires special processing. The joints are made well, but of course will not withstand extremely rough handling. Flameware is somewhere between a cast iron and a nonstick surface. It can be seasoned, but should still be relatively nonstick without it. Even if not seasoned, you will not have any issues cooking acidic items (tomatoes, for examples), which cast iron and carbon steel pans struggle with. Extremely acidic items may break down seasoning you’ve applied, but will not affect the ceramic underneath.

No, sorry :)

If you know me, maybe. Shipping is unfortunately expensive, and my work is unfortunately fragile. It’s usually not worth it, but there are cases where I’ll say yes.
