This mug shape is one I’ve refined over the last year. It started without a handle; I wanted something comfortable to hold as a cup, with a natural space for the palm to curl around. The handle was added after about a year. It is flat and wide, giving strength and stability if your cup is full, and enough space if your cup is hot. Like the vast majority of my handles, it’s pulled by hand from a lump of clay over water, and attached minutes later when it’s pliable and able to take on whatever shape I impart.

Brown stoneware, soda fired to cone 10. Seafoam, yellow salt, and shino glazes.
